Public Utilities and Regulatory

We have represented the major telecommunication service providers in Belize in a variety of telecommunication matters, including corporate and contractual matters and civil litigation.

Like several other Caribbean jurisdictions, Belize has modernized its telecommunications industry-moving from a single service provider to a competitive environment. This has driven the need for advising and representational work to industry players particularly in the evolving regulatory environment.

We have developed expertise in Belize Public Utilities regulation and have routinely provided advice and appeared in litigation for major players in regulated industries including cable television, broadcasting and television stations, water suppliers and telecommunications service providers. Our litigation experience includes not only contractual matters with private parties but also challenges to decisions by regulators.

The regulated public utilites industries remain dynamic and competitive and with the likely entrance of new players there will be an on-going need for strong representation in this specialized area.
